In 2019, Kyle Scott proposed an idea to renowned real estate agent Ryan Serhant to convert his bestselling book “Sell It Like Serhant” into a course. Despite Scott’s lack of experience in course development, he understood that people are more interested in transformation than information. Two weeks after the course’s launch, it had generated $500,000 in revenue, and within a few years, the business was bringing in nearly $10 million annually from online education, coaching, and memberships.
Currently, Scott serves as the General Manager of High Growth Creators at Thinkific, where he assists creators and professionals in converting their knowledge into revenue. He emphasizes the importance of a sound business strategy, stating that while the tools for creating a product are readily available and easy to use, the actual challenge lies in structuring, pricing, and creating demand for it.
Scott’s recommended roadmap for any content creator, subject-matter expert, or entrepreneur aiming to generate significant revenue from online courses is centered around the understanding that they’re selling their expertise, not just producing content. He refers to this as the “expert economy,” where professionals utilize content as a means to educate and convert, rather than simply entertain.
