The uncertainty surrounding TikTok’s future in the US and Australia’s increased minimum age for social media use are impacting businesses reliant on social media for sales. Dillon Hill, founder of marketing agency Cosmoforge, warns that building a business on social media is risky due to changing trends and expectations. Hill’s clients, including lawn care professionals, power washers and e-commerce businesses selling specialised products, often don’t use social media, as their target audience is not typically ready to make purchases or engage on such platforms. The time it takes to convert social media attention into revenue is another challenge. Hill advises that businesses should not solely rely on social media for their marketing strategies.
