LinkedIn is broadening its free verification system to the wider web, giving external platforms the ability to use LinkedIn verification instead of creating their own. Adobe is among the pioneers in adopting this system, integrating LinkedIn verification into its new Content Authenticity app and existing Behance portfolio platform. This enables creators who have undergone LinkedIn’s verification to display a “Verified on LinkedIn” badge on their profiles. In addition, if these verified creators use Adobe’s digital Content Credentials tools, their identity will also be displayed next to their work whenever it is shared on LinkedIn.

The initiative is aimed at tackling the growing ease of misrepresentation online. Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn’s vice president of trust, notes that the platform’s foundation is built on trust, making authenticity crucial. The collaboration with Adobe is seen as a significant step towards empowering LinkedIn members and partners to understand specific verified attributes of someone’s identity.

LinkedIn launched its verification system in 2023, allowing users to authenticate specific details such as their identity, workplace, or education history using government-issued ID or company emails. Since then, over 80 million people have verified their identities using these tools. Apart from Adobe, other early adopters of the expanded verification system include enterprise platforms TrustRadius, G2, and UserTesting
