Google is escalating its competition with OpenAI by launching Flow, a novel video-generating AI model created for filmmakers. This innovation was unveiled during Google’s annual developer conference, I/O, and is intended to operate in harmony with Google’s other generative models, Veo, Imagen, and Gemini. Users can use natural language prompts to generate different elements of a scene, which can then be assembled in a fluid and cohesive manner.
Flow includes stylistic and editorial features such as Camera Controls for adjusting camera motion and angle, Scenebuilder for extending existing clips, and Asset Management, an interface for managing various components of a project. Flow TV serves as a platform for sharing and viewing works. The model’s moniker, Flow, is inspired by the psychological phenomenon “flow state,” which describes a state of deep engagement with a task, resulting in calm focus and immersion.
Flow is currently accessible to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., with plans for availability in other countries in the near future.
