Google’s John Mueller has advised against using Language Learning Models (LLMs), or AI tools, for SEO advice, stating that these tools often draw from a plethora of bad SEO information. His views echo those of his colleague, Gary Illyes, who shared a similar sentiment last month. These comments came in response to Google Gemini’s conflicting advice about the use of the disavow tool in Google Search Console. Despite the validity of both responses from Gemini, the incident highlights the need for careful consideration when relying on AI tools for SEO guidance. The discussions surrounding this issue arose on LinkedIn, emphasising the ongoing debate about the reliability of AI in SEO strategy.
